FINAL SALE. NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES.
People are taking action across the country as well as right here in Toledo as our voices are uniting against racism and police brutality suffered by the Black community. The Frederick Douglass Community Association has called on our community to raise $1 million for improvements to the community center. Reggie Williams, the executive director for the Frederick Douglass Community Association, said to ‘live your protest’ and that living your protest means to ‘look after your fellow man and aspire to be better people.’ We’ve partnered with the Frederick Douglass Community Association to stand in solidarity with this message and the commitment to make a difference in our hometown. For the next 90 days, we’re donating 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this shirt to the Frederick Douglass Community Center. Some can march, some can donate, and everyone can look out for our fellow men and women and aspire to be better people.
Originally founded in 1919 as a response to the need for social and recreational opportunities for the African American youth of Toledo, The Doug continues to serve the African American community here in Toledo. The goals include upgrading the center and providing more modern conveniences, such as additional computers, internet tools, and an updated website. Some of the programs provided by The Doug include a GED program through Owens Community College, prenatal care and infant mortality classes sponsored by the Lucas County Health Department, addiction support services, Youth Opportunity Programs, tutoring and summer paid employment, 24 hour day care, and Pride Kids United which has programs including baseball, basketball & football. (Note that some programs are on pause due to COVID-19.)
If you would like to make a donation directly to the Frederick Douglass Center to assist them in their goal of raising $1,000,000, a trust account has been established at the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union on Dorr Street. If you would like to volunteer your time, you can contact Reggie directly at reggiewilliams49@yahoo.
COMMUNITY SHIRTS:
We’re in our second year of choosing charities and non-profit organizations that we think are impacting the community in a positive way, and partnering with them to raise money through a t-shirt sale to support their mission. This line of our t-shirts is called Community Shirts. This Community Shirt, unlike our others, will be print on demand instead of presale.
